Small Changes That Take Minimal Effort

Being healthy doesn’t have to be hard!

All it takes is one healthy decision at a time...

If you get overwhelmed, think of it like this,

if I can change just 1 thing, then I am making progress!

"Everything we do is in what we eat, drink, think, and do.”

here are some ideas on how to get healthy today…

  1. SWITCHING YOUR OILS IN THE KITCHEN

  2. SWITCHING YOUR TABLE SALT

  3. SWITCHING YOUR NUT BUTTERS

Switch to Avocado, Extra Virgin, and Coconut Oil

The easiest thing to switch when working with your food is your use of oils!

Are you using Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, and Coconut Oil?

  • Avocado Oil

When working with high heat in the kitchen always use Avocado Oil!

It has a smoke point of 500 so it is perfect for sautéing, frying, roasting, and everything in between without burning the oil! I buy an Avocado Oil spray every week at the store and it makes it super easy to use in the kitchen!

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

When pairing it with dressings or working with salads, use extra virgin olive oil!

  • Coconut Oil

When your baking side comes out, use organic coconut oil!

Side Note: When Dining Out At Restaurants…

Don’t be afraid to ask the waiter or waitress to change your order from what’s different on the menu! Knowledge is power.

A lot of your fat and calories can be in the dressings (which can be detrimental to any weight loss progress), so always opt for dressings to be put on the side! Any candied nuts, cheeses, and bread can be taken out as well!

A lot of restaurants and brands are using Canola Oil to put in their products (because it’s cheaper), but it isn’t a good oil! It’s highly processed and a lot of times contain trans fats!

If I’m not sure of a good dressing, I will ask for oil and vinegar because that is a much safer option in my opinion!

swap table salt for pink Himalayan salt

Regular table salt is not going to cut it anymore.

Buy Pink Himalayan Salt at the store this week and start using that every day!

It contains trace minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron and is so good for you!

swap peanut butter for 1-ingredient nut butter!

Cool Story…

So, I was making a smoothie this week for one of my clients and she mentioned that her Dad eats Skippy peanut butter straight from the jar every single night.

She also noticed when I opened a jar of our organic peanut butter from Costco, I had to stir it first to get the excess oils to mix into a creamy consistency. Why? Because it only contains two ingredients! Organic peanuts and salt.

She was so struck that nut butter can actually be good for you without all the sugar, inflammatory fats, and high fructose corn syrup! She loved the Peanut Butter Banana Chip smoothie as well. They are $8 at the office :)

Now, imagine if her dad would eat a scoop of the organic natural peanut butter (the only ingredient is roasted peanuts and salt!) every single night instead of the standard Skippy! It could really help save his life in the long run!

I personally like buying my creamy almond butter from Trader Joe’s. They have the best nut butters for the best price!

An Additional Swap…

swap cereal for oatmeal

Have you ever tried overnight oats??

They are so good and can be be pre-made for breakfasts on the go!

here’s how I make mine…

  1. Measure 1/3 cup of oats in a bowl

  2. Add 1 scoop of protein powder or collagen

  3. Add 1/4 cup of almond milk

  4. A good sprinkle of cinnamon

  5. A couple drops of liquid Stevia

  6. Stir together and leave in fridge overnight or a couple hours!

  7. In the morning, top with desired ingredients (almond butter, banana slices, strawberries, coconut yogurt, cacao nibs, etc.) and enjoy!
