When I told my sister in April how much I wanted to go to the West Coast (Seattle, Washington and San Diego, California) this year, we decided we’d make it happen!

Every time I take a trip, there’s something inside me that grows and expands! It’s like I open up to more and more possibilities and my confidence goes up. Seeing the world in different shades of light is amazing too!

As far as preparation, there was a couple things I did that made ALL. THE. DIFFERENCE.

My 5 tips for traveling

  1. Pack light! There’s nothing sweeter than having carry-on luggage on your flight (you can bring 2 items- I brought my roll-on and a backpack)! I packed 1 jacket, 1 sweater, 2 shirts, 2 t-shirts, yoga pants, jeans, leggings, a few pairs of underwear, socks, 3 pairs of shoes (boots, gym shoes, and sandals) in my roller luggage and my computer, charger, supplements, and snacks in my backpack! My recommendation for bringing clothes and other personal items is to only bring what you know you’re going to wear and use!

  2. Pack all your supplements, vitamins, and various other health stuff in 1 large ziplock plastic bag. It was so easy pull out and put on the kitchen counter when I got to my destination. It also kept me so acountable to have everything in one bag and I actually never missed a day of taking them!

  3. Google the nearest grocery store when you there. If there’s 1 grocery store you can count on, it’s Whole Foods. They are everywhere, and as soon as I got there my sister and I went to Whole Foods to stack up on some healthy food and snacks!

  4. Eat the local food! I breathed… Let go of my rigid planning and opened up to new possibilities. I realized that no matter where I went, there would be healthy options. I could find a healthy option anywhere and experience the taste of Seattle and San Diego! It was so nice! My favorite was the acai bowl we got the second day in California! We also checked out a couple smoothie and juice bars and it gave me a lot of inspiration for my smoothies at home!

  5. Last but not least… Move! Opt to walk to places instead of driving. Chances are you’re not doing your regular workout routine. Also, in my opinion, there’s no better way to stay in shape and enjoy the city then walking around it and experiencing it firsthand! You’ll be surprised too how much your steps add up!
