Why I Keep A Journal

Some of the worst messages you can send are the ones you send yourself!

The mind is a battlefield.

Replacing words with “I can” instead of “I can’t” and writing down your thoughts can be easy ways to help.

On May 4th this year, I started writing down in a journal everything that was going on inside my head, and everything that I desired in that very moment. I also would write a list of everything I’m grateful for. It helped my growth walk so much! I watched thoughts change, and realities shift. I accomplished goals I set for myself (like to stop eating sugar and a pint of Halo Top every single night). Everything that I wanted to change, but didn’t know how, I watched change!

I also wrote down how when I turned 18 and moved away to college, I stopped eating whole eggs, because I thought they would make me fat! Same with avocados... THAT IS SUCH A LIE.

Big fear foods (like chips and high calorie bread) and thought patterns that were distorted. It was nice to put it to paper and not have those thoughts continue to live inside my head anymore!

I also would read scripture and do devotions in my Bible through the “Bible” app on my phone. I’d pick a “plan” that deemed interesting to me and then would read a word, write down its good points, and read God’s scripture to coincide it.

It felt so good to start my day like that!

It’s what I love and continue to do to better myself.

3 things you can write down today:

  1. What’s on my mind?

  2. What do I want to change?

  3. What am I grateful for?

There is power in the words we speak, and by writing it down, you’re getting it out into the atmosphere!
